Over the past 12 months a substantial amount of time and work has been undertaken at significant cost to progress the Redevelopment Plan to the point of being in a position to make a Development Application (DA) with Council.   The current Board has achieved a number of key milestones for the redevelopment WHICH INVOLVES NO SALE OF ANY LAND AT WHITE CITY:

  • Reaching agreement with Council on Heritage issues
  • Developing a new more advantageous draft Development Control Plan
  • Completing the very detailed drawing, reflecting the plans unveiled at the AGM but refined to incorporate the consultants' input including mechanical, civil and structural engineering, geotechnical investigations, flood assessment, surveys, hydraulics, security, acoustics, electrical, facades, fire services, lifts, structures, contamination, access, waste/food service, landscaping including tree root mapping, wind and extensive traffic studies all specifically based on the Board's plans.

At the Club's last AGM on 25 March 2014, the Board updated members with a detailed presentation of its plans to develop White City and build the new Hakoah Club with an extensive list of facilities including:

  • Indoor aquatic centre with both lap and learn to swim pools
  • Multi-purpose indoor sports complex for Maccabi including basketball, futsal and netball
  • Gymnasium
  • Hakoah Club lounge and bar
  • Bistro/restaurant
  • Indoor/outdoor cafe
  • Reception/function centre
  • Communal offices
  • Wellness centre
  • Childcare centre
  • Children's playground
  • Additional tennis courts for Maccabi Tennis
  • Full sized soccer field

The Board has steadfastly maintained its originally stated vision for the redevelopment of White City to turn it into a true sporting, cultural, communal and social club.
